Sarah's Hope

Sarah Wingfield was taken from us after suffering a seizure in October of 2013, at the age of only 29.  She volunteered for many charity organizations throughout her short life, and touched most everyone she me with her amazing intelligence, bubbly personality and astounding beauty.

After losing her, those that knew Sarah were so moved by her loss that it is easy to understand why we must pay it forward in her honor.
We started by celebrating her life on October 26th.
We gathered where Mike and Sarah were married and celebrated Sarah's life as she would have wanted it. Hundreds attended and enjoyed food, drink, stories, tears, and laughter.  It was a fantastic evening!

This event also launched "Sarah's Hope". Sarah volunteered for many organizations over the years, so we've started one in her honor.

Sarah's Hope will be dedicated to saving lives by sponsoring organ donation drives, and by increasing awareness of SUDEP, or Sudden Unexplained Death from Epilepsy.

Over 6,500 people die each year in the United States, awaiting an organ transplant.

That's 18 families that lose a loved one, every day.

Over 120,000 people are currently awaiting an organ.

When a person joins the organ donation registry, they will potentially save eight lives, and improve the lives of up to fifty more!  As Sarah would say, "That's a no-brainer!"

Sarah herself saved four lives, gave the gift of sight to another, and improved the lives of many more.  Her beautiful heart now beats in someone else.  The Gift of Hope that Sarah gave to others helped those that loved her to cope with her untimely passing and to find a positive among so many negatives.

Sudden, Unexplained Death from Epilepsy or SUDEP took Sarah from us.

Over 50,000 people die each year from complications due to a seizure.

That's 136 families each day, losing a a loved one

Many of these deaths are preventable, but unfortunately most doctors do not educate their Epilepsy patients about SUDEP, or how to mitigate it.

Saving lives through education and awareness about SUDEP will be the second thrust of Sarah's Hope.  We will work in our communities, and with other SUDEP awareness organizations to raise money for this cause.

A friend once said of Sarah,

"She wasn't just a thoughtful, caring person; she was a thoughtful, caring person in meaningful, effective ways that made, and will continue to make real, positive differences in people's lives"

That's exactly why we are doing this in Sarah's honor.  We hope that you'll be a part of it, as well.

This would be Sarah's Hope.

Let's go save some lives!

Please help us finish her work.
